1960s

Don Hattery goes from  weekend employee to a partner in the firmIn the early 1960s, Don Hattery goes from weekend employee to a partner in the firm. Shive-Hattery & Associates Inc. grows to 50 employees and adds offices in Iowa City (1961) and Davenport (1969) with Jim Shive as president and Don Hattery as secretary/treasurer. Phil Shive dies in 1964 at the age of 69.

Employee ownership supports further growth with expansion to the Des Moines area in 1970. Shive-Hattery becomes one of Iowa´s largest engineering firms with four offices.
