Shive-Hattery provided plumbing, mechanical, and electrical design services that enabled the historic structure to be used for modern, commercial office and retail space.
The Roshek Building is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Core and Shell Platinum certified by the US Green Building Council. Only a handful of Historic Rehabilitation projects in the nation have received Platinum certification, a rare and significant accomplishment.
This puts the Roshek Redevelopment in the company of San Francisco’s iconic Transamerica Pyramid, which also attained LEED Platinum status, placing these historic buildings in the top 2% of energy-efficient buildings in the country. Located in downtown Dubuque, the nine-story 250,000 SF Roshek Building is the first LEED Platinum certified building in the City, the first LEED Platinum Core and Shell project in Iowa, and the first Platinum Historic Rehabilitation project in Iowa. Only four other projects in Iowa have received Platinum certification, all for new construction.
IBM, anchor tenant in the Roshek Building, was also recognized with a LEED Gold Commercials Interior certification. IBM selected the Roshek Building for the location of its technology services delivery center.
