Shive-Hattery Cedar Rapids and Iowa City employees got up early Saturday morning, April 13 and headed to Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to participate in the annual Corridor CANstruction. The team's CANstructure, "Close EnCANters of the Third Kind" won Juror's Favorite, the highest award given by the Jurors!

The goal of the Corridor CANstruction is to help feed our hungry, fill our food banks and showcase design talents using canned goods. The canned goods used in the builds are donated to the HACAP food bank at the close of CANstruction, Sunday April 21. The Shive-Hattery team set a fundraising goal of $2,500 to purchase cans. This goal was obliterated and an outstanding total of $2,943 was raised. That was truly CANazing!

The Canstruction team had fun building its structure which took about 3.5 hours (each entry was allowed 4 hours). At one point there was a mishap involving tuna falling in a domino effect; fortunately the team caught it, rebuilt it, and kept moving!

The structures are on display at the mall through Sunday, April 21. Be sure to get out there and see them!
