Douglas Bottorff, PE, Education Sector Leader Download Fostering Innovation in Higher Education Book “It all started with my civil engineering degree and a professional focus on structural engineering, transitioning into something I really like: planning and designing steam tunnel and utility distribution work for campuses and communities. This type of work is the right mix of serving my clients, being responsive to their schedules, and working with Shive-Hattery team members to develop creative design solutions to resolve client issues.

"Shive-Hattery has provided me an opportunity to meet new people, develop a strong network of professionals allowing me to help clients solve some of their most difficult challenges regardless of the project type.”

Twenty-first century learning environments allow students and educators to collaborate, explore project-based learning and become innovative problem solvers. This requires rethinking curriculum and the design of the learning environment. We collaborate with our clients to create and design new learning environments that inspire exploration and learning at every level. From the classroom to performing arts venues and athletic facilities, we seek to create education focused facilities that serve learners from early childhood through higher education.
