Eldridge Wastewater Upgrades

Eldridge, IA

For more than 40 years, Shive-Hattery has provided engineering services to the City for improving and expanding its sanitary sewer system and wastewater treatment facility. Services provided included land surveying, civil, electrical, mechanical and structural engineering, and architecture design, bidding and construction services. Projects have included:

  • 16,000 linear feet of gravity sanitary sewer, ranging in size from 10 to 27 inches in diameter, 56 sanitary manholes, four lift stations, reconditioning of two existing lift stations and the demolition of 3 existing lift stations, 1,500 linear feet of forcemain, 4,000 linear feet of storm sewer and the reconstruction of 6,000 linear feet of residential streets.
  • Reconstruction and expansion of the wastewater treatment plant. Building and system improvements included a new laboratory, a submersible chopper pump lift station, six sequencing batch reactors, dual aerobic sludge digesters, and a sludge dewatering unit, new raw lift station, refurbishing of the control building and other associated site improvements.
  • Increasing the capacity of the South Slope wastewater treatment facility and the Price Street lift station to meet the needs of the city’s growing population. The improvements increased the facility’s ability to pump and treat peak wastewater flows during storm events, brought the SBR treatment system into compliance with current Iowa DNR guidelines and provided the ability to handle and dispose of future sludge.
