We are looking for a motivated Environmental Specialist Intern who shares our passion and collaborative style and wants the opportunity for professional growth in our Iowa City Office.

This person will contribute to the completion of air quality emissions and compliance reporting, air permitting, and compliance assistance with local, state and federal rules, air dispersion modeling and other environmental assistance as requested.  

Skills required

  • Participation in an accredited program for Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, or similar program or experience providing environmental services 
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office software family
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Highly organized with an attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively, written and orally
  • Must be adaptive to change and willing to shift tasks due to project schedules 
  • Demonstrates an ability to be service-oriented to existing and potential clients


  • Assist senior environmental personnel with entry level tasks.
  • Potentially obtain licensing for radon inspections, lead based paint inspections, and asbestos supervisor and inspector.
  • Work closely with project managers and project teams on a variety of tasks such as: asbestos, radon, and lead based paint inspections, emissions calculations and data entry.
  • Coordination with project manager and project teams on deliverables to clients, agencies and others as required
  • Assist with performing onsite construction administration and observation services, including reporting and monitoring contractor compliance with contract documents.
  • Ability to work with other Engineers on multi-discipline teams
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively including planning, organization, and prioritization with attention to detail
