Shive-Hattery is seeking a motivated Architect or Intern Architect team member for our recently opened Kansas City office. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a collaborative environment on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with Commercial and Industrial projects is preferred.

This team member will work closely with the Studio Leader to perform a variety of creative and technical responsibilities associated with the design and documentation of a wide range of projects. 

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design process and design discussions through idea generation and collaboration utilizing drawing, modeling and 3D image formats
  • Production and coordination of design process and technical documents in close collaboration with Studio Leader and project team
  • Creation of images and renderings to communicate design intent
  • Work with Team and Group Leaders to balance workload, resources, and project schedules
  • Strive to create an environment, and culture consistent with our business, and people values
  • Engage and be active in community or professional organizations 

 Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a design firm 
  • Licensed or actively pursuing licensure in the State of Kansas or the State of Missouri
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture
  • Expertise in Revit is required. Additional expertise in Lumion, Photoshop, InDesign, and SketchUp is preferred  
  • Embody a collaborative work philosophy emphasizing building relationships with colleagues
  • Demonstrate architectural systems and construction documentation knowledge
  • Commitment to sustainability and its application in the design process
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and current ADA requirements
  • Exemplify a strong can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
