CITY OF CLINTON ROUNDABOUT EDUCATION

 

Creating change can  be hard work. We applaud you for your efforts on attempting to install roundabout in your community. Our hope, is to maintain momentum moving forward and work together with you in creating a plan that will best serve the City of Clinton. While roundabouts are not the silver bullet to all traffic related issues, they provide a variety of benefits, from safety to aestheics, to maintainence and operations.

Three main areas in which Shive-Hattery will benefit Clinton are:

Roundabouts - We have been heavily involved in the installation of roundabouts across Iowa for the past 10 years. In fact, we remember when there were only 20 total in the state of Iowa! Since then, we have invested in fully understanding and educating ourselves and others on their value and benefit, all with the overall goal of keeping Iowa's roadways as safe as possible.

Proven Process - From Mount Vernon to Ames, Ottumwa to Davenport, North Liberty to Fairfield, we have assisted a number of communities across Iowa with implementing their first roundabouts. Understanding the process may look different for each community, the steps taken to develop the program are the same. See our approach for how we will assist with needed steps and education for the residents of Clinton.

Funding - We understand that a great way to get public improvement projects constructed is to leverage available local funds and other available grants. Each year, we assist communities with grant applications  specific to roundabouts. Currently, over the past five years, we have helped raise more than $5M.
