Located in South Bend, IN

Back to projects

Seitz Park in South Bend, Indiana will be the site of University of Notre Dame's new hydroelectric plant. As a result of the new facility, Seitz park, owned by the City of South Bend, will be getting a renovation.

Notre Dame will pay the city $1 million to help with renovation of the park, which is adjacent to the dam on the St. Joseph River. Initial concepts for the park’s redesign include a new building with restrooms and a vending kiosk, a new band shelter, improvements to the East Bank Trail and a new park entrance.

The park, expected to re-open to the public in late 2021, will be a testament to the City of South Bend's commitment to sustainability and creating a community with a strong parks and trails system.
