Overview

Shive-Hattery’s Valparaiso office has an immediate opening for an entry-level, recently graduated Architectural Designer.  

The candidate will work full-time seeking growth opportunities with focus on Revit/BIM related software. Candidate will be an integral member of a collaborative team of Engineers, Architects, and Designers working on all phases and aspects of our varied projects.  Primary focus: Industrial Food, Pharmaceutical and Manufacturing.    Secondary: Commercial, Educational, Healthcare, Public Buildings.

Responsibilities include:

  • REVIT drawing production support of projects in the architectural discipline 
  • Shop drawing review, field data collection and field data entry
  • Work in a team environment and on multidiscipline projects
  • Work in the Food, Pharma and Manufacturing markets
  • Effectively handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Rendering  using Sketchup, Enscape and Lumion is a plus but not required

Requirements

 

  • Have 0+ years of experience using Revit
  • Have knowledge and/or desire to work in the Food, Pharma and Manufacturing markets
  • Ability to produce construction documents, including 3D model generation and detailing
  • Focused with great attention to detail
  • Computer literacy a must, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new things and adapt to changing markets and software updates
  • Willing to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing work 
  • Experience with Revit importing/exporting with other modeling software (AutoCAD/Navisworks, etc..) and 3D scanning technology are not required but would be a plus
  • Be willing to work some overtime
  • Ability to drive and have access to an automobile
  • Ability to travel with some limited overnights
  • Ability to climb ladders and work off of elevated platforms and open grating
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment required for specific clients and sites
  • Ability to pass drug screening tests and background screening, which are both required at most industrial sites
