Embrace the Excitement of the Windy City and Elevate Your Career in Our Chicago Studio

Shive-Hattery’s Chicago architecture and engineering studio is always looking for reasons to celebrate! We’re a team of 35+ and growing, with a mix of interior designers, architects, and engineers who make up our studio.

Chicago is a fun, fast, and exciting place to start or accelerate your career. We definitely enjoy life in the big city and the metropolitan appeal of our location—there’s always something different to do—but we’re a close-knit work community as well.

Top 5 Reasons We Love Our Chicago Studio

  • We’re surrounded by material manufacturers in downtown Chicago, which means we get first glimpse at new products (and lots of material samples!). Reps are always swinging by to show us what’s next in architecture and interior design.
  • Our office is part workspace, part social space. A bistro area and materials library offer places to collaborate and network.
  • We’re right across the street from a CTA L train stop, and we’re two blocks from the Chicago Riverwalk and the Merchandise Mart. This puts us close to public transportation and minutes from major industry events, like NeoCon.
  • Having fun is in our DNA. Start the week with a Mario party? Count us in. Sleepover-themed snacks on a Friday? Yes, please!
  • In December, we have prime window viewing of the CTA Holiday Train. We get to see Santa, reindeer, and thousands of twinkling lights every year!

Fast-Tracking a New Service for UI Health

Shive-Hattery partnered with ZGF Architects to design a six-story, 200,000-square-foot Specialty Care Building for the University of Illinois at Chicago that brings new healthcare services to underserved populations. The project was not only delivered a year ahead of schedule, but also realized enough savings to add an extra floor to the building.
