Shive-Hattery Expands Talent & Reach With Acquisition Of Montgomery Roth

Houston, Texas Acquisition Broadens Gaming & Hospitality Expertise

Shive-Hattery has acquired Montgomery Roth Architecture & Interior Design, a 14-person firm in Houston, Texas with expertise in the gaming and hospitality, and multi-family housing markets.

This marks Shive-Hattery’s third design office in the Southwestern region after its expansion into Tucson, Ariz. in 2022 and Tempe, Ariz. in 2023. The acquisition complements its existing portfolio of regional and nationwide commercial clients. In addition, clients will benefit from their combined expertise, resources and ability to deliver more comprehensive and customized design solutions.

Le Pavillon Hotel located in New Orleans, La. Hotel owner, Ashford Hospitality Trust Inc., and Premier, collaborated with Montgomery Roth to complete the conversion and historic conservation of Le Pavillon New Orleans, to a Tribute Portfolio Boutique Hotel. The $19 million architecture and interior design renovation of the 1907 Renaissance-style property in downtown New Orleans is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project scope included the redesign of the lobby, guestrooms, suites, meeting spaces, dining areas, and the renovation of Bar 1803. Historic antiques and architectural details such as Napoleon’s Carrera marble bathtub, Rococo Revival furnishings, and original crown moldings were preserved and incorporated into the refreshed design. New finishes, lighting, furnishings and layouts were introduced to balance the historic character of the building with contemporary function. Harrah’s Columbus Racing & Casino located in Columbus, Neb. Montgomery Roth provided full architectural design services for Harrah’s Columbus, a new racing and gaming destination in Nebraska. The project includes a one-mile thoroughbred racetrack, a 28,000 square foot casino with slot machines, table games, and a Caesars Sportsbook, as well as multiple dining and entertainment venues. The scope also included guest amenities and integration with a dual-brand hotel connected through interior circulation. Master planning and design solutions were developed for public spaces, gaming areas, hospitality venues, and back-of-house functions to ensure both operational efficiency and a seamless guest experience. Finishes, lighting and furnishings were selected to reflect the Harrah’s brand identity while supporting the energy and excitement of the venue.
