Beyond competitive, market-based pay, Shive-Hattery offers overtime bonuses. Rather than wait for a year-end bonus, you are paid time-and-a-half for extra effort. When the company performs well, all employees are eligible for profit-sharing bonuses, too. First-time license bonuses are also available for those earning professional licensure.  

Shive-Hattery helps you build your retirement savings through a company match on your 401(k) and Roth 401(k) contributions. You have access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) with four tiers of medical, dental and vision coverage. Term life insurance is provided to cover one year of your salary.  

As a privately held design firm, Shive-Hattery is owned and operated by employees. We have no outside investors, like private equity investment groups. Shive-Hattery shareholders have equity in the business they influence every day.

ABC: Always Be Compounding

At the recent annual Intern Swarm, where all Shive-Hattery summer employees gather to connect, celebrate and learn, financial advisor Zach Holmes talked about “ABC: Always Be Compounding.” Holmes did a live demonstration using an investor calculator, Compound Interest Calculator, to show the power of compound interest (“earning interest on interest”).  

Zach showed the power of compound interest for a young professional investing $50 a month at the start of their career. Over the course of 45 years, that small investment (with incremental increases during higher earning years) became over $100,000.
