Blackhawk Student Center at Southeastern Community College

Southeastern Community College (SCC), Iowa’s second established two-year college in 1919, has been a vital bridge between high school and four-year universities, offering affordable educational pathways. Initially focused on supporting core classes such as chemistry, math, and English, SCC has evolved to meet the educational needs of Des Moines, Henry, and Lee counties, now encompassing a range of technical-based programs.

With over 3000 enrolled students, SCC fosters a vibrant social environment and maintains a high-quality athletics program that includes softball, baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Recognizing the need for not only competitive sports but also intramural student activities and training, SCC realized this vision with the addition of the Blackhawk Rec Center.

Opened in 2023 on the West Burlington campus, the Blackhawk Rec Center boasts a full-size collegiate basketball court, two side courts, an elevated walking and training track, and a state-of-the-art weight training/cardio center. This facility is available for various events, students, faculty, and intramural sports, contributing to the overall enhancement of the SCC community.
