The University of Iowa’s John Pappajohn Business Building is a 187,000 SF building constructed in 1993, located centrally on campus and housing the Tippie College of Business, Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and Small Business Center. The University worked with an outside firm to conduct a study to address roof, wall, and window leaks. The study identified multiple needs, including precast concrete waterproofing, roofing repair and replacement, and joint sealant repairs.

Pappajohn Business Building suffered from numerous building leaks in the low slope roof areas, steep slope roof areas and from failed sealant joints. The project addressed these issues by repairing critical system interfaces between steep slope and low slope roof areas, replacing the low slope roof systems, and adding protection from falling ice for steep slope roofs. Repairs occurred at interfaces between curtain walls and pre-cast sealant joints and all exterior sealant joints were replaced.
