After undertaking a recent re-branding process, the City of Waukee was looking to create consistent and cohesive entrance signage for the significant portals into the city that would communicate and reinforce their brand, and provide a sense of the vitality and energy in the community.

Working with the steering committee, Shive-Hattery developed multiple themes and concepts for signage, progressing through a process of exploration and refinement to determine final design and appearance.

The project also involved the conceptual development of a comprehensive sign family including wayfinding, civic building and park signage, street signs, and markers that identified city boundaries and emphasized the city’s overall brand. Siting considerations and landscape design, development of budgetary fabrication and installation costs were included in the process.
