Expansion for New Assembly Line

Located in Ankeny, IA

Back to projects

Shive-Hattery designed a building about ten years ago to house an assembly line for a national client.

Recently, the client decided to add an assembly line for a new equipment model. The facility expansion for this new line adds 139,000 square feet – increasing overall square footage by about 1/3.

Key project considerations:

  • Quick timeline. This project had an accelerated design timeline of three months.
  • Significant Size. The expansion added 139,000 square feet to the existing 300,000 square foot building.
  • Site Uniqueness. The site required wetland reclamation and the associated site processes, including pond design and raising grade 4’-0”.
  • Additional Elements. The project included rough-graded outdoor storage/laydown area, as well as the extension of utilities.
