Expansion for New Assembly Line

Located in Ankeny, IA

Shive-Hattery designed a building about ten years ago to house an assembly line for a national client.

Recently, the client decided to add an assembly line for a new equipment model. The facility expansion for this new line adds 139,000 square feet – increasing overall square footage by about 1/3.

Key project considerations:

Quick timeline. This project had an accelerated design timeline of three months.
Significant Size. The expansion added 139,000 square feet to the existing 300,000 square foot building.
Site Uniqueness. The site required wetland reclamation and the associated site processes, including pond design and raising grade 4’-0”.
Additional Elements. The project included rough-graded outdoor storage/laydown area, as well as the extension of utilities.
