Scott County Library Eldridge Circulation Reconfiguration
Located in Eldridge, IA
The Scott County Library System engaged Shive-Hattery to reconfigure the circulation and interior layout of the Eldridge Library to better serve evolving community needs. The project focused on improving functionality within the existing footprint while minimizing disruption to ongoing library operations. Key goals included creating more defined spaces for different user groups and enhancing the overall organization of the facility.
The design centered on establishing distinct children’s and teen areas to support age-appropriate programming and improve user experience. In addition, the layout was reconfigured to expand and accommodate a growing demand for technology. The new plan allowed for up to 20 computer workstations, thoughtfully integrated into the existing structure without requiring major construction changes.
Through strategic space planning and efficient use of existing areas, the reconfiguration improved circulation, usability, and flexibility within the library. The updated layout supports a wider range of activities and provides a more comfortable, functional environment for patrons of all ages, ensuring the library can continue to meet community needs over time.
