CRCSD – 2019 Kingston Stadium Improvements

The Cedar Rapids Community School District wanted to renovate the 57-year-old stadium used by local schools for football, track, soccer, bands and other community events. Shive-Hattery designed improvements that included new synthetic turf on the football field, demolition and restoration of the northern bleachers, accessibility improvements, new electrical distribution and the removal and replacement of the existing running track that supported an additional running lane. Services included civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering; landscape architecture and architectural design.

The completion of these improvements provide the stadium with restored concrete insuring decades of continued service, an added running lane to keep up with industry standards and synthetic turf that enables the District to provide a consistently safe, multi-purpose playing surface which allows for a greater number of events.
