SAP (School Age Program) Facility

Located in Tucson, AZ

Back to projects

A community needed a dedicated space to support early childhood development and expand youth programming. While an existing facility served teens, there was a gap in services for younger children and a need for shared infrastructure to better connect the two buildings.

In a design-build partnership, Shive-Hattery and Candelaria Corporation delivered a new facility serving preschool through sixth-grade children. The SAP building includes five activity classrooms, a multipurpose room, and a full commercial kitchen to support daily programming and community events. A new shared parking lot was constructed between the new and existing buildings, improving access and connectivity across the site.

The new facility creates a welcoming, functional environment for younger children while complementing the existing teen center. By expanding services and improving site circulation, the project strengthens the community’s ability to support youth of all ages in one cohesive campus.
