Repair (Sustain) Central Chiller Plant

Located in Tucson, AZ

Back to projects

This project included the design and construction to sustain the Davis Monthan Air Force Base Central Plant. It included the demolition of existing systems and the design of new chillers, pumps, cooling towers, electrical service, lighting, mechanical yard enclosure and other miscellaneous upgrades and improvements needed to expand the capacity.

To achieve the project goals, it was necessary to remove an interior wall that divided the space. This allowed for the proper placement of new equipment to meet the increase capacity requirements while maintaining proper maintenance and access requirements for the equipment.

The electrical service upgrades consisted of all new switchgear and a larger transformer. The work was achieved and coordinated to maintain minimum downtime for cooling capacity of the facilities served by this Central Plant.

Temporary chillers were provided during the equipment downtime and power was provided by mobile generators until the new electrical service could be energized.
