Crestview Storm Shelter Addition & Renovation

Located in West Des Moines, IA

Back to projects

Recognizing the increasing demand for early childhood education, the West Des Moines Community Schools district leadership took action to expand learning opportunities for their youngest students. As part of this initiative, Crestview School of Inquiry in Clive, Iowa, underwent a comprehensive renovation to better serve pre-kindergarten and childcare programs. The project added two pre-kindergarten classrooms, a wrap-around childcare classroom, and three special education rooms to support various needs.

Each pre-kindergarten and childcare room is thoughtfully designed to foster a positive learning environment. They feature abundant natural light, direct access to playgrounds, and spacious restrooms that allow staff to assist students with special care needs. The classrooms also include custom-designed cubbies and ample storage for learning materials, ensuring an organized and engaging space for students and teachers.

The special education rooms were planned to provide wide walkways and flexible learning settings, allowing students to explore different learning modalities. These spaces also include push-button door operators to ensure accessibility for students with physical disabilities.

With these new facilities, Crestview School of Inquiry is better equipped to serve the community and offer enhanced educational opportunities for all students.
