MercyOne Genesis Health System needed to renovate Cath Lab 5 at its East Campus in Davenport to support the specialized needs of cardiovascular care. Updating a highly technical clinical environment required careful coordination of medical functions, equipment, building systems, and structural requirements. Maintaining functionality and creating an efficient care environment were important considerations throughout the project.

Shive-Hattery brought together architecture, interior design, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering expertise for the renovation. The multidisciplinary team coordinated the space and building systems around the requirements of the cath lab and its specialized equipment. The coordinated design provided a practical path for transforming the existing lab to meet MercyOne Genesis Health System’s needs.

The renovated cath lab provides MercyOne Genesis with an updated environment that supports cardiovascular procedures and the teams providing patient care. Coordinated building systems and infrastructure help the space function efficiently around specialized medical equipment. The renovation supports MercyOne Genesis Health System’s continued delivery of cardiovascular care to patients in the Quad Cities region.
