Green Hill Rd & S Main Street Improvements

Cedar Falls continues to see growth, with new businesses like Fareway and Kwik Star along the Greenhill corridor and continued development in the Pinnacle Prairie area. As traffic volumes increase, improvements must be made to give the public efficient and safe routes to work, school, and shopping. In the 2018 Greenhill Road Corridor Traffic Study, a roundabout was recommended at the intersection with South Main Street.

Through public engagement during the pandemic, an active project website and 3D visualizations, the public was informed and a roundabout will be constructed in the summer of 2022. With the significant utility relocations, these were planned to be completed the summer prior which also worked well with nearby construction on Greenhill Road. Due to the safety benefits of the roundabout at this intersection, the Iowa DOT awarded the City $500,000 in Traffic Safety funds which are available in July 2021.
