Green Stormwater Infrastructure

Back to projects

Changing the landscape to accommodate human needs must be done in ways that preserve the quality of the water in a community. Keeping potential pollutants out of the water environment, both during and after construction, can be a difficult, but necessary task to accomplish.

Shive-Hattery is experienced in techniques to develop and design sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and cost-effective solutions to maintain water quality. These services include:

  • Rain-gardens and bio-filters
  • Infiltration practices – porous pavements, sand filters, and open spaces
  • Water quality modeling
  • Water quality structures
  • Native plantings and restoration
  • Stormwater re-use/rainwater harvesting

In conjunction with project development, we provide permitting and regulatory compliance assistance for Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) Permit, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Careful site analysis and planning will create a quality environment for future generations.
