Mishawaka Fire: Station 2
Located in Mishawaka, IN
Shive-Hattery partnered with the City of Mishawaka to design and construct a new 25,132-square-foot fire station on McKinley Avenue, strategically located in front of Liberty Elementary School. This state-of-the-art facility replaces an outdated station on Main Street and serves as the City’s central station, addressing the high volume of calls from the surrounding area.
The new station features modern amenities, including fire administration offices, sleeping quarters, a training room, an apparatus bay, and typical fire station support spaces. Unique additions include a “Survive Alive” house for public education and a dedicated mechanical area with a storage and training mezzanine.
Built on a four-acre site acquired for $1 from School City of Mishawaka, the $12 million investment represents the City’s first new fire station since 2013. This facility supports over 100 firefighters from across Mishawaka’s four stations, enhancing emergency response capabilities and community safety.
