Workplace Design at a Global Technology Services and Consulting Firm
Located in Hartford, CT
As a leading Global Technology Services and Consulting Firm continues to expand, the technology services and consulting firm identified Hartford, Connecticut, as an ideal location to establish a regional hub.
After securing three floors within the Goodwin Square office tower, the company needed a design plan to transform the 1980s building with narrow strip windows into a modern space that encourages imagination and attracts tech talent.
As a long-time client partner, Shive-Hattery created a design that appeals to young professionals and supports the type of work being done by the firm to help insurance, health, and manufacturing clients make the most of emerging technology. The space serves as one of only four of the firm’s Technology and Innovation Hubs.
To facilitate communication and collaboration, Shive-Hattery created open workspaces with several collaborative elements, including floor-to-ceiling whiteboards. All workstations are mobile sit-stand tables that can be reconfigured as often as necessary to accommodate workstyles and projects. Amongst the workstations are phone booths and small conference areas for private, heads-down conversations.
Large training spaces are used to train the next generation through a partnership with Trinity College. The program transitions liberal-arts graduates to careers in digital technology. The rooms are designed to support internal training as well so Infosys can educate employees on IoT, the cloud, cutting-edge data security, and information security. They also feature overhead doors that provide privacy when closed or a connection to employee workstations when opened.
The existing spiral staircase connecting the three 20,000-square-foot floors was opened up and given an industrial feel to complement the exposed ceilings and neutral palette. Pops of bright colors are showcased through wall paint, furniture, and area rugs.
By creating a new Technology and Innovation Hub in Hartford, the technology leader has created nearly 50 local jobs, with plans to hire 1,000 by 2023. The company has room to grow and hire additional team members, using its fun and modern workspace to attract top talent. Its new presence in Connecticut also helps accelerate growth and innovation on the East Coast.
