Healthcare Foundation of La Porte (HFL) saw a need in the community for conferencing and education space that businesses could use free of charge. They came to Shive-Hattery for assistance to design a facility that would be their new headquarters and include conference rooms available to local businesses plus incubator space for startup businesses. 

With goals identified and a site allocated, the design team worked together to capture the essence of what the facility wanted to represent for the community.

The site is an open space located next the La Porte walking trail with views of Fishtrap Lake. While working through initial programming, the decision was made to locate the building on the northeast side of the site to allow for approaching from the West on Eastlake with the main entrance fireplace and atrium as the visual focus. HFL wanted to be thoughtful to the walking trail so a water/rest stop for trail participants to use was included in the design.

The facility is a great addition to the community and positions La Porte to thrive in the future.
