Grubhub – Philadelphia

Located in Philadephia, PA

Back to projects

Only two years after opening a downtown Philadelphia office location, online food ordering company Grubhub had built up its workforce to the point of needing more office space. The company leased additional space in their current building and wanted the new space to complement the original, including using the black, red and white colors of its brand in the finishes.

To link the two floors, finishes such as wall paneling, subway tile and brick were incorporated and reimagined in the new space to complement these looks on the original floor. Red chairs, couches and decorative light fixtures combined with mostly white walls display the company’s colors and help maintain the brand throughout the new space.

With Grubhub wanting to create an office space that exemplified its culture, the many conference rooms not only have food-related names – such as Stromboli Room and Iced Coffee Room – but their finishes reflect the theme of these names also. Every room has whimsical food-related graphics of things like coffee mugs and noodle shapes that add visual interest and help reinforce the company brand. There are no private offices; all of the work stations are located in open areas. Comfortable break-out areas are located outside of the conference rooms for informal meetings and collaboration.

As a focal point of the office, the break room offers a fun place for employees to take a break from work with amenities like huddle booths and a ping-pong table. The huddle booths are built into the wall with soft bench seating and drop-down lighting to create an intimate feel. A Wall of Fame showcases sales award winners, with Philly cheese steak-patterned graphics covering the wall behind the awards.

While materials and finishes mimic the original floor, more whimsical touches were added to create a unique, fun place for Grubhub’s sales staff to work.
