Watersheds, Streams and Rivers

People are drawn to rivers and streams for their natural beauty, recreational opportunities and commercial or industrial importance. Development in or near rivers and streams can present specific challenges. Flooding and protection of natural resources are often key concerns. Local, State and Federal regulations often influence the design or feasibility of projects. Permitting requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), nd Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are an important component to determine early in project planning.

Tools such as hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodway and floodplain mapping, watershed analysis and planning, and stream bank and channel restoration design provide the ability to evaluate appropriate development options, determine flood protection needs and enhance or protect our natural resources.

Working closely with you to understand and address the impacts of river and stream flooding allows for appropriate development near these important water resources. Shive-Hattery is proud to be involved in quality stream restoration and watershed improvement projects in our region, which help to provide nutrient reduction and an ecological lift to the environment around us.
