Back to projects

Hills Bank and Trust Company sought to create a refreshed banking environment in southwest Cedar Rapids that would support both client service and employee needs. The project required thoughtful coordination across architecture, interiors, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental disciplines. The team needed to balance functionality, comfort, and the bank’s established identity within the existing project parameters. Careful planning was also important to support a smooth path from design through construction.

Shive-Hattery provided a multidisciplinary design approach that brought together interior design, architecture, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, and environmental expertise. The team coordinated building systems and interior elements to create a cohesive, functional space. Close collaboration among disciplines helped identify project needs early and support efficient decision-making throughout design. This integrated process helped translate Hills Bank’s goals into a practical and coordinated solution.

The completed project provides Hills Bank with a more functional and welcoming environment for both customers and employees. Coordinated building systems and interior improvements support day-to-day operations while enhancing the overall user experience. The multidisciplinary design approach also helps reduce conflicts and improve long-term building performance. Ultimately, the project supports Hills Bank’s continued service to the Cedar Rapids community with a space designed for current needs and future use.
